Apple’s App Store revolutionizes web experience
Apple has launched a highly anticipated and much-deserved update to its web App Store. The company has given its online store not only an updated aesthetic but also functional improvements that make it genuinely useful and more practical for web access.
The new version of the App Store can be accessed through apps.apple.com and features a main screen reminiscent of what users see when accessing it on devices like the iPhone, iPad, or Mac. The platform opens to a Today screen that highlights app recommendations, game features, key events, and editorial team selections.
On the left side of the screen, several significant features are worth noting. First is a menu to select which version of the App Store to explore: options include iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Watch, or Vision Pro. This allows users to easily check the availability of applications for each device, as well as their ratings and features—all without having to switch between devices.
Within the same left-side menu, Apple highlights various sections and categories. These vary depending on the device being navigated. For instance, on iPhone and iPad, sections like Today, Games, Apps, and Arcade are available. The categories also include Photography and Video, Health and Fitness, Productivity, Entertainment, and others. Each hardware platform has its own variations of sections to make navigation easier.
Furthermore, when accessing different segments, users can utilize additional filters located at the top border of the screen. For example, within the Games section, titles can be explored based on genre (action, racing, strategy, simulation, etc.). This makes discovering new games more straightforward.
Apple launches a new version of the App Store for the web
One of the most notable changes in the new web version of the App Store is the integrated search feature. It may seem funny that in late 2025, the addition of a search box is being celebrated, but this highlights just how basic the old version of the application store really was.
Previously, if you wanted to find an app on the web version of the App Store, you had to rely on Google to locate it. For instance, searching for ChatGPT on the iPhone meant you’d type “chatgpt app store” to get the link in the results.
With the new App Store, that hassle is now a thing of the past. The new web interface does not only display the OpenAI app in its internal results but also seamlessly connects users to similar options like Gemini or DeepSeek.
It’s true that long-time users embedded in the Apple ecosystem may rarely interact with the web version of the App Store. Nonetheless, this update may prove incredibly helpful for those who own an Apple device but are not completely integrated into its product lineup.
The new version of the App Store is now available and has regional versions tailored for markets such as Spain, Mexico, and others.
