The Bellevue authorities declared that a 26-old-man was taken into custody on Friday for robbing a jewelry store. According to the police records, the suspect was dressed in military attire and claimed that he wanted to purchase an engagement ring for his fiancé. Before bolting off, the Washington man stole an exquisite marquise diamond.
Marquise Diamond Price Around $100G, According to Police
On the 22nd of February, an individual donning a military uniform, later identified as 26-year-old Arquae Daveon Kennedy, entered the Diamond Inc. jewelry shot in Bellevue, Washington.
Based on the police report, the individual approached a staff member and told him a story about wanting to buy a diamond engagement ring for his fiancé, as they plan on getting married before being deployed off-seas.
Kennedy said that he’s looking for something more exquisite than the usual merchandise, indicated that the ring must have between 3 and 5 carats. The store owner who served Kennedy told the authorities that the suspect looked at the other diamond rings before making his move.
Per Kennedy’s request, the owner brought him a small glass jar with a 5.54-carat diamond stone inside. Before allowing the suspect to inspect the marquise diamond, the owner told Kennedy that this is the biggest stone available and that it costs around $100,000.
Several seconds later, the suspect grabbed the diamond and bolted off. The owner ran after him and managed to grab him by the shirt before getting into his car. Kennedy punched the store owner, who fell to the ground.
On Friday, the authorities managed to track down the individual and to take him into custody. The diamond is still missing. Authorities believed that the driver who aided Kennedy escape might have the diamond. The suspect was not listed as being in the army.
