The company, now owned by Meta, is working on a feature called “Expiring Groups“, which will first reach beta users.
The most famous instant messaging company is developing an option that will allow you to set a specific expiration date for group chats, so that they automatically disappear from the application once the set time limit has passed.
Currently, group chats can only be deleted by the users who manage them. Before deleting a group, all its participants must be deleted and then leave the group. Also, once deleted, its members will still see it in their chat list, but will not be able to send messages.
The company is now working on a feature called “Expiring Groups” that will allow its users to set a specific duration of those group chats, WABetaInfo reported in version 23.5.0.71, launched through the TestFlight beta program for iOS.
This portal advanced that the messaging platform will allow enabling different time limits for the use of these multi-member conversations. Initially, they will be of “one day, one week or customize hour“.
This option will be included in the group information section and for the moment it is under development and it is unknown when it will reach the user base of this Meta service. Finally, WhatsApp introduces the button “Remove expiration date” in case you have previously set one.
