Beme makes social media about your world, exactly as you see it, so that you can enjoy a platform that comes free of self-awareness and that only flows forward.
Created by director Casey Neistat, that you might know from HBO’s “The Neistat Brothers” and YouTube, Beme is a new and improved version of Vine, that makes social media all about the user himself, rather than his social version, present on Facebook and Instagram.
In the presentation video for the new app, Casey Neistat explains that Beme wants you to stop looking at the world through your phone, and yet still get to share videos and pictures of all the exciting things that come your way. He points out that there is a simple way of doing that and that Beme is the app that is bringing to you.
Beme has developed a method that only requires you to press your phone screen against a solid surface to start recording and this is actually the app’s signature move. As you can see in the picture above, you can just press your phone screen onto your chest and you can actively post on Beme. No taps, no scripts and most importantly, no playback and no reviews.
You actually don’t get to see your own content, because it gets sent immediately. They way you get to experience Beme is by looking at other people’s bemes, that are short videos that they wanted to share with the world. And get ready, because the most exciting part is coming up.
You can only see bemes once. “Once it’s over the beme’s gone forever. Everything you see, you see for the first time and you see for the last time”, says Casey Neistat.
This was actually meant to reduce self awareness to an all time low. If you can’t replay and pause and freeze frame, that makes it all that more interesting, because it makes the users pay more attention to what they are watching. Exactly as it is in real life, you can only live in the moment and you cannot go back to relive your favorite parts.
As for the way you get to send feedback to your friends, Beme has devised an unique method for doing that as well, without like buttons. There is no “like” hording on Beme. While you’re watching, you can tap away at a button on your top right hand corner and for every tap you send a selfie that captures your reaction to the video, that gets automatically sent to your friend after it is taken. Again, no scrips, no filers and no second chances.
So Beme will let you show the world to your friends, exactly as it is through your eyes. And you can get feed back for it from your Beme friends. Also, you get to experience your friends’ world as well an see how life looks through their eyes for a change. If this sounds like fun, then you can download the Beme app, because it has made it to the internet.
