Game of Thrones’s The Spoils of War episode left us with more questions than answers, but some clues we were able to spot in the Eastwatch trailer for Episode 5 could help us determine at least the fate of one favorite character.
It is unclear if Jaime Lannister is dead or not after tumbling into that lake, but the fifth episode moved the action farther north. Eastwatch is the castle that haunts Hound in his visions and the one that Jon send the Wildlings to at the debut of Season 7.
The trailer suggests that the white walkers may try to penetrate the Wall at Eastwatch which is located by the sea. Hound once said that “the waves are frozen” in his visions, but the line was left out from the show.
If the sea is frozen, the army of the dead could find a way to get around the Wall. We suspect that Jon will take a trip to Eastwatch to ensure that that doesn’t happen. He might get help from Dany too, if he can convince him first.
Fan Theories Ahead (Spoiler Alert!)
There are many fan theories circulating the Internet after the release of the trailer. Die-hard fans suggest that the 31-second clip contains valuable clues and spoilers.
For instance, Jamie could have survived the fall in the lake, and got captured by Daenerys. Tyrion could help him escape, which means that a reunion may be happening.
The trailer also shows a conspiracy of ravens leaving Winterfell. Ravens are the first animals Bran was able to tame in the book, so he might be using them to spy beyond the Wall. He might see that a huge army is approaching, as the Night King likely recruited more troops since Season 2.
In the trailer, we can get a glimpse at the army of the dead. In the center, there is a smaller band which may be white walkers, while the surrounding band must be old wights. White walkers may play the role of army officers and old wights must be the foot soldiers.
