Just to prove that clowns are more likely the stuff of nightmares than those of joy and laughter, a creepy ax swinging clown showed up at a woman’s door and gave her the biggest scare of her entire life.
While clowns used to be good omens once upon a time, it seems that they have earned themselves a pretty solid negative reputation over time and that they are more likely associated with scary experiences nowadays, rather than with fun and laughs.
There are some infamous clowns out there who have changed the perception that people have of this type of character, but probably the scariest one of all is Pennywise, the clown from Stephen King’s creepy novel, “It”. The British actor Tim Curry has given a masterful portrayal of Pennywise in the 1990 TV series adaptation of the book, that still inspires fear to children and adults alike.
Whether or not she was already afraid of clowns, a woman from Hickory, North Carolina clearly has a problem with them now, after an ax wielding clown came to her doorstep at 4:30 in the morning. When the woman opened the door, the man wearing the clown costume started swinging his ax at her, but by a huge stroke of luck, she managed to grasp the clown’s mask and pulled it.
As if in an episode of Scooby Doo, the clown ran off when he was unmasked, but to the woman’s great surprise, she actually knew the man who did this horrible deed. She described him as being simply an acquaintance.
Then, she went to the police to seek kelp, and the moment there is a “outstanding warrant” for the suspect, according to TIME magazine, that contacted Chrystal Dieter, Hickory Police Department spokesperson.
Fortunately, the woman was not hurt in this horrendous incident and hopefully, the authorities will apprehend the 28-year-old Jimmy Daniel Raybon, the main suspect in the case, as indicated by the woman.
“Any law enforcement officer who comes in contact with the suspect in question will have full ability to arrest him,” Chrystal Dieter pointed out to TIME magazine.
It remains to be seen how this case will be resolved, but one thing remains utterly clear, and that is that clowns are never making a comeback ever again, regardless of their best intentions.
