Facebook Messenger for Apple Watch Now in App Stores

facebook_messenger_apple_watchEarlier this year, Apple suggested that a Facebook Messenger app for Apple Watch might appear in the next months. Now, this option has finally been offered for Apple devices, allowing all iOS ecosystem’s customers to send their voice messages, likes, icons and many more.

Facebook, recognized as the world’s largest social media site, briefly launched its Messenger application on Apple’s smart watch via an upgrade that was released this week. The improved Messenger feature runs on the most recent version of the company’s operating system for Apple watches, the watchOS2.

With more than 700 million customers per month from around the world, Facebook Messenger represents the most important texting application in the United States, outside of SMS services. This option could transform the smart watch into an even bigger interaction system, rather than just something that you only use more as a playing tool.

Facebook did not launch a compatible application at the presentation of the Apple Watch, which did not seem a smart choice at the time. However, Instagram did provide an option to see its images on the smart watch.

During all this time, almost 10,000 Apple Watch applications have been released on various officials and informal channels. Software developers, such as Glide, Voxer or Telegram entered the stage, expecting to be Facebook and Apple users’ main texting application.

Facebook now seems to think it has a smart watch application that can support its huge user base. Not shown at the business presentation were its less visible features, like message history, audio balance, location tagging or an online marking for search engines.

This application is particularly useful when a customer gets messages coming from a close friend while on the road. Rather than looking for the phone in a large bag, a person can quickly deliver a response by using the Messenger option incorporated into the Apple Watch.

While customers cannot write full replies to their messages, they can choose from a list of pre-specified solutions, sending schedules and options for pointing their current location. In addition, a watch owner can record a voice message thanks to the wearable’s integrated mic. Moreover, customers can check out recent images and voice messages.

Nevertheless, this application is not capable to send animated stickers or GIFs on the smart watch. When the customer receives GIFs, the animated messages will be displayed as simple pictures on the watch’s small screen.

The upgraded application is now available for users to download it from the iTunes store. This update arrives with additional assistance for iOS 9’s recent options, such as multi-tasking and worldwide search for iGadgets.

People can now look through their Messenger contacts and discussions from a mobile phone’s search display. Also, they can access the Messenger feature from the list of multi-tasking applications on their iPad. As a result, the watch becomes an extremely useful extension of main mobile devices.

The app’s assistance for its multi-tasking functions available in iOS 9 can maintain the communications going between customers, for example, while surfing on the Internet or watching a movie. Anyway, the watch’s small screen limits drastically the range of actions which can be performed on it.

In the fall of 2014, Apple also offered some brief details about the release of a watch version of the primary Facebook application. The organization did not provide additional information on this version of the application.
