The big news came on Friday, June 26th, when the Supreme Court finally ruled that it is not constitutional for the United States to impose a ban on same-sex marriage.
This is a historical decision and it will make a lot of difference in many aspects of American people’s lives.
It was already legal in some states for lesbian or homosexual couples to get married, but now it seems that the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual) folks will have the same rights as their heterosexual counterparts when it comes to marriage.
This means not only a moral but also a financial victory for them and it will have very good effects on the whole community from many points of view.
The LGBT movement has been supported by many groups and prominent figures in the society. There have been many campaigns both carried out on the street and online.
The historical ruling was good news for many companies, which have colored their logo into rainbow shades to show how much they support the decision. The rainbow represents the symbol of the much debated LGBT community.
One of the companies that went rainbow for gay pride was Facebook, the largest social media network in the world.
Facebook now has a new tool that allows people to paint your profile photo in the colors of the rainbow. There is no editing involved and the process is not complicated at all.
All you have to do is click the link to Celebrate Pride tool and let it edit your photo. The result will be an opaque layer painted in rainbow colors, applied to your existing photo.
CEO Mark Zuckenberg himself spoke about this, saying that Facebook has always been an active supporter of Pride and that even their offices from various countries are being decorated by some of the company’s employees to show how much they care.
“I’m so happy for all of my friends and everyone in our community who can finally celebrate their love and be recognized as equal couples under the law,” he said.
Facebook is not the only company that shows its support. Google and Apple have also started to apply the colors to various contents.
