The Fans of the “Powerpuff Girls” animated series had mixed feeling about the fourth addition to the team, Blisstina, a black crimefighter sporting teal hair. The show introduced the new recruit Sunday during a special “Power of Four” episode.
The episode didn’t do much fuss about her race, but her superpowers captivated even the most stubborn naysayers. The fans’ initial reaction was to believe Blisstina to be one of the girls’ imaginary friend. It is not the first time Bubbles has an invisible pal other girls cannot see.
The show unveiled that the new addition to the team is the result of the girls’ creator’s “perfect little girl” scientific experiment. However, Professor Utonium had hoped for the girl to be more stable than that. The Professor recalled that after a laboratory explosion he thought that the experiment was a failure. What’s more, the new Powerpuff girl was Mojo Jojo’s closest pal at the time he was still working for the researcher.
Cartoon Network Welcomes the Fourth Girl
The new character’s powers make her an indispensable member of the crime squad, even though Him has already included her in his evil plan. Cartoon Network introduced Blisstina to the series’ fans on Twitter:

At the end of the “Power of Four,” the new girl leaves Townsville, but there is a hint she’d be back.
Powerpuff Girls fans recall that it is not that first time the series introduces a new member to the group. Between 1998 and 2005, it happened multiple times. For instance, in Season 2 of the original series, the trio tried to create a fourth sister (see the “Twisted Sister” episode). The experiment led to the creation of Bunny who died by the end of the episode.
In Season 5, Princess Morbucks joined the group as a Powerpuff Girl but was soon ousted when the girls found she lied about her background.
