Isaiah McCoy, a former death row inmate, and wrongful convictions speaker, was recently arrested and charged with human trafficking. According to his arrest warrant, McCoy, who worked as a security guard, convinced women to prostitute.
Former Death Row Inmate Aided by Army Wife
Last week, McCoy was arrested in Hawaii and charged with human trafficking. The man was released from prison in January 2017.
Court documents reveal that following his release from prison, McCoy resumed the old habits that landed him in jail.
The man quickly secured a position at a Hawaii hotel, where he worked as a security guard until his second arrest.
During his employment, McCoy got romantically involved with a prostitute. The former inmate revealed that his girlfriend didn’t care much about his sordid past.
The authorities revealed that, prior to his release, McCoy was on death row for human trafficking.
According to the former death row inmate’s version of the events, he and the woman had an outfall. The woman sought help at a nearby shelter, known for harboring pimps and prostitutes.
She later told the authorities that McCoy forced her into selling her body, threatening to kill her if she refused the arrangement.
McCoy claimed that the woman and the other victims who spoke against him were deceiving the authorities.
However, there’s another side to the story. Prior to McCoy’s arrest, the authorities took Tawana Roberts, McCoy’s wife, into custody.
The woman was charged with human trafficking after she met with a couple of undercover agents who passed for foot fetish enthusiasts.
Following his arrest, McCoy was charged with seven counts of human trafficking.
Considered by many a powerful motivational speaker, the former death row inmate will be representing himself during the upcoming trial.
McCoy’s brother believes in his brother’s ability to contest the allegations.
