Idaho Mother Admits She Has Unaddressed Anger Issues
Last week, Judge George A. Southworth sentenced 26-year-old Priscilla Zapata, an Idaho mother to 30 days in prison following a domestic incident involving her four children.
According to the court documents, Zapata was arrested earlier this year and charged with several counts of injury to a child. Zapata, who has two boys, ages 3 and 9, and two girls, ages 4 and 9, declared that she lost her temper when she came home and saw her children eating ice-cream out of a bucket.
The woman, who was undergoing anger management therapy long before she sought to punish her ‘misbehaving’ children, told the authorities that it was never her intention to harm her children but rather “send a message.”
According to the authorities, when Zapata saw her children eating sweet, she smacked the two boys with a leather belt and toy. As for the girl, the Idaho mother took them to the bathroom and shaved their heads.
More than that, it would appear that the suspect even grabbed one of her daughters by the throat and slammed her against a wall.
During her trial, Judge Southworth decided to show leniency, dropping the five-year prison sentence proposed by the prosecution. Furthermore, Southworth declared that Zapata attending parenting classes and undergoing treatment for her anger issues are commendable aspects which prove that the woman seeks to better herself.
Still, it will be a long time before the Idaho mother could regain the trust of her children who are currently being care by some of her relatives.
