The Maryland cat woke her owner in time to see someone stealing from his car.
Who says that only dogs are good at guarding homes? Not a Maryland homeowner whose cat managed to catch a thief as he was preparing to burglarize the man car. The Maryland cat was commended for her bravery and, of course, received tons of treats and pats from her owner.
Maryland Cat Grew Tired of Man Prowling Outside House
The story of how 32-year-old Jamie Ruark ended up behind bars is an odd one, to say the least. According to the police report, everything started with a Maryland homeowner turning in for the day.
Ruark, who was already on the property, waited for everyone in the house to go to sleep in order to make his move. Apparently, at around 1 a.m., Ruark managed to break into the homeowner’s car and attempt to remove several items from within.
Little did he know that he was being watched, not by a surveillance camera, but by the homeowner’s cat, who saw the man prowling on the property.
Probably growing tired by the burglar’s clumsiness, the Maryland cat went up the stairs into her master’s bedroom and started meowing until the man woke up.
Realizing that something might be wrong, the man rose from the bed and saw the thief through the bedroom window as he was trying to remove something from his car.
The man promptly called the authorities who arrived after a couple of minutes later. Following a brief marathon, Ruark was nabbed and charged with four counts of theft.
As for the hero of the day, the arresting officers declared that they’ve never heard of a case where a cat foiled the plans of a robber. Of course, for doing her job above and beyond the call of duty, the Maryland cat received tons of treat and pats from her grateful owner.
