The Massachusetts authorities recently arrested a 16-year-old teen boy following the aftermath of a father-son scuffle which allegedly took place outside an Italian restaurant. According to the teen’s arrest warrant, a texting feud inside the restaurant ended with a 63-year-old being rushed to the hospital to received treatment for severe head and face injuries.
Texting Feud Makes Teen Punch His Father
On Saturday afternoon, a 63-year-old dad took his family out to dinner at the Il Montebello Restaurant located in Yarmouth Port. According to the police investigation, during the dinner, the man’s 16-year-old kept chatting with someone over the phone and refused to put down the device.
The man told him more than once to put his phone away, but the teen refused to obey his father. At one point, the two of them started arguing inside the restaurant. Minutes later, they’ve decided to step outside in order to continue their discussion.
Once outside the restaurant, things took a turn for the worst, as the teen punched his father right in the face. According to the authorities, the blow to the 63-year-old man’s face was so powerful, that it knocked him unconscious.
During his fall, the man hit his head on the pavement. An off-duty firefighter who witnessed the aftermath of the texting feud rushed to help the man get up. The father was later rushed to the Cape Cod Hospital where the doctors treated him for severe head and face injuries.
The teen was shortly arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Later that day, the 16-year-old was released into his mother’s care. As for his father, the ER physicians declared that although the injuries are severe, they are not life-threatening. The patient will be discharged in the following days.
When confronted by the authorities, the teen declared that it was never his intention to harm his father in this manner.
