Finally, Microsoft Office is now available for Android phones as well. New and improved versions of the Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps are now out there.
After enhanced versions of the Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps were introduced to Android tablets, iPhones and iPads, it is finally Android phone users’ turn to be able to use the superior versions of the apps on their mobile devices, since beforehand they only had access to the basic versions.
Microsoft is trying to make its best known programs available to all mobile devices out there so that it may attract users who do not use Windows on their computers. Microsoft Office has the advantage of being known to a massive amount of people from its early days when it was pretty much the only office program pack out there.
Everybody’s written their homework in Word, done their reports in Excel and made pretty much all of their presentations in PowerPoint. So Microsoft does not need to get the users to know its product because it already has quite a steady reputation that has been getting stronger and stronger over the years.
What Microsoft needs to do in order to get more users on its Office apps is to focus on the fact that they are now available on any mobile platform out there and that everybody can use them. Furthermore there are some visible improvements in the graphics of the apps and also, it is especially designed to accommodate mobile phone users.
Therefore, its features are designed to make it easier for the user to work form a smartphone or a tablet. The apps are free to download, but for those people who use the Microsoft Office tools for longer, there are some additional special features available for each program that come at a reasonable price. These users will need to make an Office 365 subscription, which costs $70 a year and their Microsoft Office world is going to be rocked!
Furthermore, it seems that Microsoft is really serious in its intent to make Word, Excel and PowerPoint a big enough part of the mobile world as they are of the computer world. It looks like future models of LG, Sony and Samsung Android-based smartphones will come with the three apps already installed.
Also, after the release of Windows 10, there will be a Windows app available for all smartphones out there, that will make all the Microsoft programs and tools be a good fit for any phone out there, regardless of its brand.
So, it seems that Microsoft will not settle for ruling the computer world only, and it slowly but surely making its way onto the mobile devices out there and becoming a particularly threatening competitor for Apple and Google. After all, it is Microsoft we’re talking about.
