On Monday, a New York was arrested and charged with attempted murder for beating a 3-year-old boy with a belt. The boy was airlifted to Syracuse where he was pronounced brain dead.
New York Couple Smashed Boy’s Head Authorities Declared
New York authorities arrested Donald and Alison Bovio, both 38, following a disturbing 911 originating from the couple’s house.
According to the police report, Donald Bovio, the boy’s stepfather was arrested in 2014, after a woman told the police that he tried to strangle her.
On Saturday, Bovio called 911 and told the emergency operator that his stepson tripped and fell down the stairs.
Paramedics airlifted the 3-year-old child to Syracuse’ Upstate Medical Center. The authorities were alerted shortly after the doctors determined that the child’s injuries were not caused by a fall.
Further medical investigations revealed that the boy was bleeding into his brain and was unable to breathe on his own. As of Saturday afternoon, the boy remains in ICU on life support. More than that, doctors declared that the boy’s EEG showed no brain activity.
Come Monday, the New York couple was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder and first-degree assault.

Alison confessed that her boyfriend got mad at the boy on Saturday and used a belt to beat him. She also admitted to having switched places with Bovio when he got tired.
Moreover, the authorities also determined that the New York couple intentionally allowed the boy to fall and hit his head on a hard surface.

Ben Fox, one of Bovio’s neighbors, told the authorities that he heard the child screaming that day.
