Las Vegas authorities are currently investigating three homicides that took place over the weekend. The police reports reveal that two homeless men were fatally shot and another one was stabbed. All three slayings could be connected, police officers commented.
Homeless Men Slain Execution-Style Murder
During a press conference held on Friday, Captain Robert Plummer of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department declared that the authorities are currently seeking for a person of interest in the case of the double homicide that occurred over the weekend.
Plummer also added that the individual is also wanted with two other slaying cases, each both of them involving homeless persons and occurring one day apart. To speed up the investigation, the Las Vegas authorities decided to make public the security footage depicting the execution-style murder of 64-year-old James Edgar Lewis, a homeless man, sleeping under an overpass.
As Plummer reveals, on early Friday morning, a security camera picks up a car passing by Lewis who was fast asleep. Seconds later, the driver makes a U-turn, gets out of the car, and approaches Lewis, carrying something in his right arm.
The man would spend a couple of seconds over the sleeping homeless man, after which he extends his arm, and two white flashes appear. After shooting Lewis, the man runs to his vehicle and drives away.
The man was later discovered and rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. As Plummer pointed out, the individual who shot and killed Lewis might be connected to two other homeless men murders, one occurring on the 28th of January and the other one on the 29th.
A homeless man was found dead behind a shopping area, gun wounds to the head, while the third one was stabbed to death. The authorities have yet to identify the perpetrator or track down the vehicle he was driving.
