A 54-year-old Pittsburgh woman was recently arrested and charged after the authorities found out that she tried to murder her bed-ridden mother on Mother’s Day. The suspect confessed that she got tired of having to care for her mother and wished she was dead.
Pittsburgh Woman Was Under the Influence at the Time of Arrest
On Sunday, the authorities summoned to a Lincoln-Lemington home arrested 54-year-old Rose Bynum. Her mother, 74-year-old Marlene Bynum, was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Based on the police report, Bynum’s next-door neighbor dialed 911 at around 7:00 a.m. after seeing Rose flipping a glass coffee table landed on his lawn.
Upon ringing the woman’s front door, the law enforcement officers were greeted by Bynum, who appeared to be intoxicated. Moreover, the police report mentions slurred speech and inability to stand upright.
After being confronted with the incident, the woman told the officers to head upstairs because her mother was in need of medical attention.
In the bedroom, the authorities found an unresponsive elderly woman on the floor. She had cuts and bruises on her arms and neck. Furthermore, the victim also had a swollen eye the size of a baseball.
Later, she was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Rose was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
Following her recovery, Marlene told the detectives that her daughter went berserk and punched a couple of times.
Conclusion
During her trip to the police station, the Pittsburgh woman confessed that she has been caring for her mother for the past 13 years. Unable to move unassisted and diagnosed with dementia, the woman was apparently seen as a burden by her daughter.
More than that, Rose even begged the police officers to kill her mother. The woman was charged with attempted homicide, drug possession, reckless endangerment, and neglect of a dependent person.
