According to a National park employee, the rockslide at the park has injured a person and the other person is dead. This incidence occurred on Saturday evening.
At the Arch Rock lookout point at Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County the collapse happened.
According to John Dell’Osso a National Park serviceman, the two hikers were walking along the Bear Valley Trial and the clip suddenly collapsed taking down the two men.
They fell from about 70 feet and were covers with rocks and debris. The passer-by’s cleared the debris and one of the hiker was pronounce dead on spot and the other was airlifted to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
There were signs set up at the spite two days earlier, the sign board read that the fissures along the top Arch Rock may have weakened the cliff and walking along the edge would be dangerous.
The park service said that the warnings have been issued on the website on Thursday. The website gave the information regarding the bluff, it said that the bluffs are very common on the California coast and they are very unstable, making it very prone to crumbling and sliding, so it is very dangerous to walk or climb along the edges of the cliff.
Dell’Osso said, “we have put up warning signs this past Thursday and Friday, I can’t tell you why somebody would walk past those signs and not pay attention to them.”
