Great Pyramid of Giza Holds Impressive Mystery

"Egypt pyramids"

After years of investigation, the pyramids of Egypt still hold mysteries for us to uncover.

According to a recent announcement made official by Antiquities Minister Mamdouh el-Damaty, the Great Pyramid of Giza holds impressive mystery. Technical experts have looked at the temperature of the largest pyramid and discovered there are significant differences in its structure.

The team of researchers have looked at the structure of all pyramids, including the largest one which is locally known as Khufu and internationally named Cheops. They have measured the temperature of the famous construction during various time intervals. Thermal scans were performed both at sunrise and sunset because the sunlight heats the structure of the pyramid in a different manner.

During investigations experts have noticed that the Eastern side of the largest pyramid presents an interesting anomaly. To be more specific, the famous construction has a 6-degree temperature difference between certain pyramid blocks on the Eastern side of the pyramid.

Previous measurements have revealed temperature differences that were not bigger than 0.1 or 0.5 degrees. This makes the new discovery even more surprising as the variation is incredibly large, experts have stated.

Scientists are now working to find the possible explanation for this anomaly. They have already considered several hypotheses, but they require more evidence to support them.

Normally, temperature differences appear in pyramids when there are cavities or when air currents differ inside the structure. Researchers also think the anomaly could have been caused by the different materials that were used during its construction. The latter could have different thermal capacities; hence, the 6-degree differentiation.

Mehdi Tayoubi, from the Heritage Innovation Preservation Institute in Paris and lead author of the current research, believes it will take a while until the current hypotheses will be thoroughly verified. He has explained that researchers will work to make thermal simulations and build computer models for the hypotheses they have suggested.

Until then, the team of experts will continue to test the structure of the pyramids in search for similar temperature variations. The investigation, which is due to last for approximately one more year, will consist in the infrared scanning of all of Egypt’s monuments.
