Carly Fiorina talks on Hillary Clinton and US education

June 1, 2015 By Jeff Suchon Leave a Comment

carlyfiorinaCarly Fiorina, Republican presidential candidate, has dismissed critics who say she enjoys attacking Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton and criticized the United States’ Common Core education system.

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO said, “The questions I raise about Hillary Clinton, I take no delight in them. I’m concerned.”

Fiorina said, “It is entirely legitimate when someone is running for the presidency of the United States to ask whether they are being transparent, whether they are trustworthy, whether they have a track record of leadership.”

Fiorina added, “Hillary Clinton has demonstrated over and over again that she is not transparent. Her leadership as secretary of state has placed us in grave danger around the world. These are entirely legitimate questions and they are questions that I would ask of her on the general debate stage — questions that must be asked of her because the American people need to hear her answers.”

Fiorina said she believes Clinton is an intelligent and hard working woman who has devoted her life to public service and “I also think that she and Bill Clinton are the personification of what 82 percent now consider the professional political class that is more concerned about preserving its power and privilege than it is about doing the people’s business.”

“It’s why 82 percent of the American people now think that we need people from outside of the professional political class to serve in public office. Ours was intended to be a citizen government — by, of and for the people. She will clearly be the [Democratic] nominee, and somebody must take the fight to her.”

She then said about the education system, “Our education system is a big problem, when a Washington bureaucracy gets involved in a program, it becomes heavy-handed and standardized. It’s how Washington bureaucracy works.”

She then gave an example of China of how the federal intervention in education is detrimental to a nation’s knowledge base.

She said, “China has put in place an education system that standardizes behavior, it is part of their regime’s oppression.”

She also said Common Core has a similar effect on U.S. families, “Common Core, unfortunately, limits parents’ choices. It will, over time, limit our children’s options.”

Fiorina is the only other female in the race to presidentship and she launched her presidential campaign on May 4.

In April she stated the benefits that would come with having another female match up against Clinton in the race.

“I think that if Hillary Clinton were to face a female nominee, there are a whole set of things that she won’t be able to talk about.”

She said Clinton would be forced to run on “her track record, her accomplishments, her candor and trustworthiness and her policies. She won’t be able to talk about being the first woman president. She won’t be able to talk about a war on women without being challenged. She won’t be able to play the gender card. And I think that’s what elections should be run on – not identity politics, not what you look like, but who you are, and what you believe, and what’ you’ve done, and what you will do.”

Hillary Clinton commences campaign fundraising exercise on small scale

April 14, 2015 By Jeff Suchon Leave a Comment

19th International AIDS Conference Convenes In Washington

A day after officially announcing her White House bid, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton seems to have tightened her sleeves to start some field work.

According to the reports, Clinton is commencing her poll campaign fundraising program on small scale, before finally launching a massive show.

Even though the Democrat will require at least USD 1 billion in her quest for the 2016 presidential election, she is currently collecting money for only primary election.

Clinton is going without a finance chairman in order to corral the rich contributors.  Moreover, her fundraisers will require to just collect USD 27,000 in May for earning their titles as “HillRaisers,” far lower than the six-figure goals that the candidates usually set for the bundlers.

The initial days of the campaign basically talks about building support from the grass-root level for a candidate, who had last ran for office over six years ago and dismantled the infrastructure of her campaign for serving as the country’s  top diplomat during US President Barack Obama’s first term.

Clinton’s long-time supporter Alan Kessler said, “It’s a great way to show that the base she had in 2008 is going to be expanded in a lot of different ways.”

Outside groups are also racing in order to drive small-dollar donors to Clinton’s camp.

“It’s go time,” an email announced on Tuesday from Ready for Hillary, a super PAC began in 2013 for urging Clinton to seek the presidential bid in 2016.

The ‘Ready for Hillary’ campaign is presently being winded down by the organizers. The emails of the committee this week to its nearly four million supporters exhort them for heading to her campaign website, www.hillaryclinton.com.

Hillary Clinton kickstarts poll battle with economic inequality agenda

April 13, 2015 By Doyle Buehler Leave a Comment

Clinton1web_2831249b

Kicking off her long-anticipated second run for the White House, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Sunday finally made the official announcement that she will fight the 2016 presidential election for a level playing field for those who are still recovering from tough economic times.

Clinton began her 2016 presidential bid as a commanding front runner for the Democratic Party.

Clinton, who is one of the popular Democratic face, made an excellent entry to the fray with a flurry of video, social media and email announcements, indicating that she is well-prepared this time and had absorbed all the lessons learnt in the past from her painful loss in 2008.

Recalling her loss in the Democratic nominating battle to Barack Obama in 2008, Clinton said that she will not be taking anything for granted this time.

The former Secretary of State had received severe criticism for conveying a sense of entitlement and arrogance during her poll campaigning. She was also heavily condemned for being out of touch with the progressive wing of the party. Moreover, these were seen as the main reasons for her defeat in 2008.

But this time, Clinton seems to be in full electrified mode in her campaign launch video. In the video, she was portrayed as a warmer and more empathetic political figure.

Clinton’s campaign will be based on the agenda of economic inequality.

Clinton has been one of the most prominent political figures in the US as the wife of former American President Bill Clinton, a US senator and the Secretary of State.

Clinton to announce presidential campaign on Sunday

April 10, 2015 By Carrie Davis 3 Comments

Hillary_ClintonOn Sunday Hillary Clinton is expected to announce via social media and video her intention to seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016.

The low-key announcement is because Clinton wants an uncomplicated start to the long campaign ahead and already having huge name and recognition.

Clinton is former secretary of state and wife of former President Bill Clinton.

Clinton will travel to the key early voting states of Lowa and New Hampshire after the announcement.

“She’s expected to make her intention to run known on Sunday,” the source said.

Clinton is expected to participate in small events to interact with the voters and hear their concern and to explain why she wants to be president.

Clinton’s campaign is different from other candidates for presidency who held big events to announce their campaign.

Steve Elmendorf, Democratic strategists said a more modest rollout will be helpful for Clinton, who lost the 2008 Democratic presidential race.

He said, “She hasn’t been out campaigning for a long time, you need to get your sea legs back. All candidates benefit from listening to people and getting a sense of what concerns voters have and respond to them. It’s a long campaign. There’s no need to start out with a bunch of big rallies.”

Social media tactic is used by Obama in 2008 and Clinton is likely adopting the same tactic.

On Friday, Clinton release an update on “Hard Choices” in which she described about her felling of her first grandchild and her final days as secretary of state.

Former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee considering 2016 presidential bid

April 9, 2015 By Doyle Buehler Leave a Comment

Former Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee on Thursday revealed his mind that he is mulling over contesting the White House election in 2016.

With the so-called announcement, Chafee has become the first Democratic leader to publicly challenge the probable front-runner of his own party for the presidency Hillary Clinton, who is expected to announce her bid this month.

“Throughout my career, I exercised good judgment on a wide range of high-pressure decisions, decisions that require level-headedness and careful foresight… Often these decisions came in the face of political adversity,” Chafee said in a released statement.

Chafee also announced that he had formed an exploratory committee to consider his run for the White House bid in 2016.

Chafee has served eight years as a Republican in the US Senate. He then chose to change his party affiliation to independent when he had decided to run for the post of Rhode Island governor in 2010. During his last year in office in 2013, Chafee clubbed hands with the Democratic Party.

In 1999, Chafee was appointed to the Senate for the first time after the death of his father, John Chafee, in office. He was elected to a six-year term in 2000. In 2006, Chafee lost a re-election bid to Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse.

In 2010, his first run for governor was successful but he had opted out of a second term.

Rand Paul leads Hillary Clinton in 2016 US presidential poll

April 9, 2015 By Carrie Davis 2 Comments

2014-11-07-HILLARYCLINTON2

A new poll survey has showed Democrat Hillary Clinton slipping against the influential Republican presidential candidates in Iowa, Colorado and Virginia.

The Quinnipiac University Swing State survey, which was released on Thursday, showed that the former secretary of state is in a close race with Senator Rand Paul but the recent controversy over her private email servers has damaged her presidential prospects against the Republican bigwigs.

Kentucky Republican Paul had declared his candidacy for the presidential election on Tuesday.

Clinton, who has still not announced her White House bid and is likely to make the same this month, is associated with all the Republican candidates in Colorado and Iowa, according to the poll.

Peter Brown, who was behind the poll, said, “It isn’t just one or two Republicans who are stepping up; it’s virtually the whole GOP field that is running better against Clinton since the last swing state survey on February 18.”

According to Brown, the drop in Clinton’s chances is due to the controversy in March triggered over her use of personal email server for official work when she was holding the post of America’s top diplomat. Republican leaders have increased the prospect of congressional hearings over the matter.

In Colorado, Paul led Clinton by a significant 44-41 percent. On the other hand, Paul managed to make a lead over Clinton by 43 percent to 42 percent in Iowa and by 47 percent to 43 percent in Virginia.

The poll showed a bright spot for the Democratic leader in Virginia, where she led all her Republican counterparts, including prominent Republican face and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, whom she led with 47 percent to 40 percent, as compared to a 42-42 percent tie in February.

The telephonic survey, which was conducted between March 29 and April 7, involved 2,803 likely voters. The poll had an error margin of 3.3 points in Colorado and 3.2 percentage points in Virginia and Iowa.

Hillary Clinton likely to announce her 2016 presidential bid anytime soon

April 6, 2015 By Stephanie James 2 Comments

Hillary Clinton

As the US is gearing up to hold the presidential elections in 2016, the most awaited declaration can be anytime now.

According to a report, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is expected to declare her candidacy for the presidential election as soon as today.

This may not be surprising for anyone, the exact timing of the announcement has not been revealed and has been kept ‘well-protected’ as well as ‘closely guarded’.

The political analysts said that Clinton, who has kept everyone anticipating about her poll ambitions for so long, is ready to make her move much earlier than actually expected.

A report said that most of the staffers, who are hired especially for Clinton’s presidential campaign, have actually no idea when the former Secretary of State is going to make the most awaited announcement. They, however, have been already asked to be ready to commence their campaign roles at any moment, which is starting from Monday.

Until the announcement is made, the staffs are working out of an office that is exclusively meant for Clinton’s personal staff. The digital team of the campaign-in-waiting has reportedly been operating out of the kitchen of the space.

Several polls have named Clinton as the clear favorite who will clinch the Democratic presidential nomination. Moreover, the political experts have been already fretting that if Clinton succeeds in passing the torch, the Republicans will recapture the White House and finally put an end to the era of Hope & Change.

Congressional committee chairman writes Clinton to turn over email server

March 21, 2015 By Stephanie James

HillaryClinton_2326613b

Congressional committee chairman Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., who is investigating the Benghazi terror attacks, has sent a formal letter to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton asking her to turn over her personal server or else the House could take steps in order to pressurize her.

He sent a formal letter, which was released on Friday, to the attorney representing Clinton and requested to “relinquish” her personal server to a “neutral, detached and independent third-party” for the purpose of review.

The issue surrounding the use of personal server by Clinton exclusively for private email account during her tenure has triggered controversy.

Even though Clinton insisted that her server would remain private, some lawmakers said that the accessibility to the server should be provided for the review purpose.

In the letter addressed to Clinton’s Washington attorney, Gowdy said, “Her arrangement places her as the sole arbiter of what she considers private and what is beyond the view of the public.”

His letter suggested that the former Secretary of State should turn the personal server over to the inspector general of the State Department for review purpose.

According to Gowdy, it’s really important for a third party to review the contents so as to ensure that any public documents are not compromised.

Gowdy has asked for a response from Clinton’s attorney by April 3 failing which he will approach House Speaker John Boehner seeking his “full House powers” to take the “necessary steps.”

Hillary Clinton goes Twitter way ahead of likely presidential bid

March 18, 2015 By Kyle Mills

clinton

It seems former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has pulled up her sleeves to launch a power pact campaign for the presidential election in 2016.

Clinton is taking the Twitter’s way to observe the political trends before making a financial announced for her presidential bid.

The former Secretary of State is being seen as a potential frontrunner among her colleagues in the ruling Democratic Party against Republicans.

According to the reports, Clinton is increasingly preferring the micro-blogging site for indulging into the daily political conversations ahead of launching her certain campaign for the presidential elections in 2016 in the coming weeks.

Political analysts call it a simple and easy technique for getting distracted by the lingering questions about a recent controversy over her reliance on a personal email account while holding the post of Secretary of State.

This will also help Clinton in analyzing her mass appeal and reach among her opponents, supporters, and the media.

The political experts also belief that the networking forum is an easily controlled and managed medium where the politicos can limit herself to a few words, impose greater impact and avert controversy.

Her latest tweets came on Tuesday night as she offered a critique on the House GOP a budget introduced earlier in the day, which proposed USD 5.5 trillion in cuts over the next decade and would repeal the Affordable Care Act (AAA).

“Budgets reflect our priorities. They should help families get ahead, educate our kids, and spark small business growth,” she tweeted.

“Our nation’s future-jobs & economic growth-depends on investments made today. The GOP budget fails Americans on these principles,” Clinton said in her another tweet.

Criticizing Republicans’ proposals to kill the health care law and to lower down Pell Grants, she tweeted, “Making college more affordable is an investment in our kids and economic growth. Cuts to Pell Grants hold our kids back.”

Clinton enjoys a bigger bullhorn on the micro-blogging site in comparison to her potential rivals in both Democratic as well as Republican. She is behind the three million followers on Twitter by a minimal difference.
