Huckabee will announce 2016 presidential plans on May 5

April 18, 2015 By Jeff Suchon Leave a Comment

huckabeeOn Friday, Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said that on May 5, he will tell his supporters whether he will seek Republican presidential nominations for 2016 presidential run or not, in his hometown Hope, Arkansas.

He has asked all his supporters to reach to his hometown on May 5 to mark his nomination announcement.

In 2008 Huckabee became a political star, when he won in Iowa caucuses against better funded candidates like Sen. John McCain and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

From recent months Huckabee is taking steps to take part in the race towards White House, he has even stepped down from his post at Fox News.

Huckabee said, “May 5 is the day when I will make an announcement; I hope people will come to Hope, Arkansas, and not just to tour the Bill Clinton birthplace. But there’s going to be an announcement that day, and everyone will know after then for sure whether Mike Huckabee is in the race or not.”

At Fox News he has outlined the campaign and the lessons he learnt from the 2008 failure. He talked much about the cash he needs to fight against his better funded rivals.

Huckabee with spending just $1 million has won in Iowa, but he was unable to keep up the pace and had to give up his nomination to Sen. John McCain.

Huckabee said, “I hope I’d run one with a whole lot more money.”

He is asking his donors to fund his campaign much more.

Huckabee said, “I don’t want to jump in a pool that doesn’t have any water in it. It doesn’t make for a very pleasant swim.”

He said a super PAC, which can accept and spend cash will fill in all those gaps.

He added, “If it’s the law, we’re going to use it, I don’t think anyone can be competitive if they don’t have a super PAC’s backing.”
