Some of the games featured in the Atari Vault are Missile Command, Centipede and Asteroids.

Classic games enthusiast prepare your wallets because Steam announces Atari Vault collection. The bundle will be comprised out of 100 classics from the late 1970s and 1980s.

Gabe Newell, or for all the gamers out there, the lord of the games, has done it again. He has managed to bring new old games to old new players. The nostalgia of the classic arcade pixelated adventures will be gone and replaced with the excitement of playing them again on PC, as Steam announces Atari Vault.

According to Atari, the Atari Vault will be packed with classic games such as Centipede, Asteroids, Warlords, Missile Command, Tempest, Donkey Kong and Packman.

There have been other attempts at bringing back the classic arcade games to the modern gaming platforms, but they are scattered around. This is why the news that Steam announces Atari Vault is so good. Finally, all of them will be bundled up together, in the same folder. It will be like in the good old days when you went to the arcade, inserted a coin and chose your poison. For all the old school gamers out there, don’t forget that the floppy unit only takes $1 bills.

But the games will not be one hundred percent the same as the old versions. Atari has reshaped some of their features in order for them to be more compatible to this day and age and bring more appeal to the young public who won’t be driven just by nostalgia to buy them.

As Steam announces the Atari Vault, the total 100 games that will be in the bundle will feature classic arcade games with a twist of modernity. Players won’t have to line up in front of a single computer to make it to the top of the leaderboard, but rather connect to the internet, also, some of the games will feature multiplayer capabilities.

According to the press release, the games will also feature a user interface with an upgraded menu and precision control that will prove more accurate than on the arcade. The soundtracks and graphics will remain their old classical selves.

For now, only a part of the 100 games that will be featured in the Atari Vault were announced so chances are that if you played it and it was rather popular than you will have the chance of playing it again.

For those of you who cannot wait to see the full list of the games that Atari Vault is bringing to PC, you can try it out at the PAX South that will take place in a week.
