New PowerShot Cameras Revealed by Canon

February 20, 2016 By Kyle Mills Leave a Comment

The new PowerShot cameras revealed by Canon both feature impressive technologies.

The two new PowerShot cameras revealed by Canon are both designed to provide the best performance possible in a compact body, and are meant for professionals and amateurs alike. The PowerShot line is thus improved with the new G7X Mark II and SX720 HS models.

Canon G7X II features the same CMOS sensor with 20.1 megapixels and the 24-100mm f/1.8-2.8 lens from the previous model. However, it also comes equipped with the DIGIC 7 image processor which allows the camera to capture images in full resolution at even 8 fps (frames per second). Furthermore, it can capture RAW files at full speed, something truly innovative. DIGIC 7 also allows the conversion of RAW files in-camera.

The new G7X II features an LCD touchscreen display of three inches that is also multi-angle, and can tilt upward to 180 degrees and downward to 45 degrees. The upgraded front control ring now allows users to select between the continuous and stepped rotational movements.

Additionally, Canon has made some changes to the internal aspects of the camera. Therefore, the new Picture Style feature gives users more control over the sharpness, contrast and color of the pictures. Those who will buy the camera will also be able to use the Intelligent IS technology from Canon and lock the camera unto the subject, but also automatically adjust the speed of the shutter for achieving background blur.

The new PowerShot cameras revealed by Canon are two new addition to the innvovative line.

On the other side, the SX720 HS features amazing zooming capabilities with its 40x optical zoom. The camera has 20.3 megapixels and combines a powerful lens with a compact body in order to provide users with the best experience.

This model is also equipped with in-camera battery charging. Therefore, users will not need a USB cable. Its Wi-Fi can be easily accessed and the clean rectangular design is sure to be on the taste of many. Furthermore, the SX720 HS features the DIGIC 6 image processor and the CMOS sensor of 1/2.3-inches and 20.3-megapixels.

Lastly, this camera comes with an LCD display of three inches, an 80-3200 ISO range and optical image stabilization. When in locked focus, it can shoot images in the JPEG format at 5.9 fps, while in the autofocus mode it slows down to 4.6 fps. Its battery lasts for taking 250 shots. However, if the user selects the ECO mode, it can live up to 355 shots.

The two new PowerShot cameras revealed by Canon can truly be considered gems in terms of photography. GX7 II will cost $699.99 and will be released in May, while SX720 HS is evaluated at $379.99 and will be available in March.
