Cindy Hamilton, a spokeswoman of Wolfson Children’s Hospital has confirmed the Jennings’s death
The 18 year old died on Thursday.
Earlier this month, Jaguar’s defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks visited Jennings at the Wolfson Children’s Hospital where the teen was undergoing treatment.
He gave her a bouquet of flowers and also asked her to attend the H. Peterson Academies of Technology’s prom with him.
Jennings accepted the invitation and they both went together to the Prom.
Khameyea Jennings’ mother, Laquandra Jennings, said her daughter enjoyed the time she had with Marks.
According to her, it was a special day for Khameyea because she spent it with her friends and a special guest.
Laquandra Jennings said, “She said this is a day to be normal.” She added, “not to have to worry about needles, chemo, potassium levels. Just a day to be a teenager and enjoy the prom.”
The American football defensive tackle for the Jacksonville jaguars, Marks drove Khameyea to prom in his sleek and flamboyant Lambourgini.
The pair was wearing white clothes and gold accents at the prom.
Marks said, “I really want to make a difference. I want to do something where you actually make someone’s day, to make a difference in someone’s life”.
Marks gestures were heartwarming and the memorable exploits of the two spread like a wildfire in the internet.
Jennings was a graduate of Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology. She was diagnosed with cancer about two years ago.
She is a liver cancer patient at Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
Her family and friends flooded the social networking website Facebook offering their support in the hours following Jennings death.
