Tesla Model S with new updates which could end drivers ‘range anxiety’

March 22, 2015 By Dave Smith

Tesla-Model-STesla Model S is coming with major software updates; this announcement was made by Tesla CEO and founder Elon Musk on Thursday. This is an update which he was talking about which could end drivers “range anxiety”. But what is the deal behind firmware version 6.2 or the patch we shall forever, if informally, refer to as Range Anxiety Update.

This new update for Tesla Model S will be out to the customers within two weeks. So it is not only the new models which will be having this update all the Model S cars will be given a software update so it is not just limited to new buyers but to all the customers using Model S.

How will Tesla do this, so for all the starters there is new app called as the Range Assurance app, which monitors the cars location and will also notify the nearest charging station. The app will be running in the background and it will not notify when it is running out of battery so that the Model S can get charged.

Musk says that it would be “unintentionally impossible to run out of range.”

The range Anxiety update is not only Range Assurance app but it will also come with the Trip planner, which can be used to plan long trips efficiently basing on the routes where you can get Model S easily charged.

This is not it; Tesla will be rolling out version 7 later this year which will be on top of version 6.2. This version again comes with a set of all new features where the user interface is particularly enhanced and autopilot features which will allow you to keep the vehicle in the lane; this feature will be helping only on the highway or if the model S is driven with low speed, so Musk told that this is not true self-driving.
