A University of South Carolina student was suspended after writing racial slur on the whiteboard on campus.
The picture went viral in social media and the school officials suspended the student when they came to know about it.
The student in the photo was writing complains about the school wi-fi service and listing down reasons for its poor service.
The first point is a racial slur.
On Friday school president Harris Pastides confirmed the decision.
Pastides said, “Today, the unfortunate and disappointing act of a student in a study room has challenged the Carolina community to reflect on our values and tell the world what we believe, respect for all is at the heart of the Carolinian Creed, the code by which we agree to abide. Racist and uncivil rhetoric have no place at the University of South Carolina.
He added, “We have taken appropriate actions to suspend a student and begin code of conduct investigations.”
It is unclear when it happened but the incident took place in study room.
This is not the first racial incident on American University campuses, series of incidents occurred.
Three students of the Bucknell University were expelled for making racial comments during a campus radio broadcast.
At the Connecticut College, an offensive posting was found on Facebook page of a professor.
At Duke University, students found a noose hanging from a tree, which a student admitted of placing and has been suspended and possible facing criminal charges.
