For the first quarter 2015, Southwest airlines have reported record earning

flightOn Thursday Southwest Airlines has released its first quarter 2015 financial report. The report has shown record performance of the company in the March ending Quarter of 2015.

Southwest Airlines has reported net earnings of $453 million for the first quarter, which is equivalent to earnings per share figure of $0.66, on revenue of $4.41 billion.

This marked a huge improvement from the March 2014 quarter’s figures of $152 million earning which is equivalent to $0.22 earnings per share on revenue of $4.17 billion.

This is not it, the EPS of the Southwest in the quarter one has beat the analyst forecast of $0.65.

Gary C. Kelly, Chairman, president and CEO of Southwest Airlines in a statement regarding the performance of the company in the first quarter of 2015 said “far surpasses any first quarter profit in our history,” and this marks the eight straight quarters breaking its old record profit.

He said that there are several drivers for the record performance including low maintenance cost, low fuel cost, longer flights, and larger and improves aircraft.

Southwest has paid $2 per gallon last quarter and in the quarter one 2014 it has paid $3.06 per gallon.

On Thursday, Kelly speaking to investors on earning call said that the Southwest ‘s Dallas flights have been a ranging success and that flights from the Dallas-Fort Worth or DFW airport were typically 90 percent full.

Following the repeal of the  six months ago, the airline has nonstop flights from DFW airport.

Southwest will be adding 19 new -800 series jet and new -700 jets to its fleet in 2015.

It is optional and it can add 12 -800 jets in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and 4 -700 in 2017.

The company continues to provide more international flights, new larger and fuel efficient aircraft will add a boon to the company.

San Jose and Costa Rica destinations were added by the aircraft company last month, and it will be adding new destinations including Mexico, Belize City and Puerto Vallarta by October 2015.

Southwest airlines flight diverted to Denver due to Pressurization issue

flightOn Friday, Southwest Airlines plane that was travelling from Las Vega to Milwaukee was diverted to Denver.

It was reported that the plane landed due to pressurization issue.

The latest incidence is followed by Wednesday’s emergency landing by SkyWest Airlines, the flight was travelling from Chicago to Connecticut, but made an emergency landed, the same problem was reported, pressurization issue, and in this incident three passengers lost consciousness.

Southwest Airlines Flight 100 was carrying 175 passengers and 6 crew members; it was diverted after flying for about 90 minutes.

All the passengers were asked to leave the plane after landing; no grave incident has been reported.

In order to assist and ease off the evacuation process, Denver Fire Department responded to gate C27 at the Denver International Airport or DIA.

It was reported that only passenger required medical attention and all other passengers were safe and in good health.

The company said that the flight to Milwaukee will continue and the passengers will be accommodated in another airplane and it will scheduled after 2 hours.

Company said, “Flight #100 from Las Vegas to Milwaukee diverted to Denver due to a pressurization issue.  The flight with six crew and 175 passengers landed safely at Denver at 8:30 p.m. local time. The Boeing 737 -800 aircraft will be taken out of service and inspected, and we’ll accommodate the flight to Milwaukee with another aircraft, scheduled to arrive about two hours late. We have a report of one passenger injury due to a fall while deplaning the aircraft. The remaining passengers will continue to Milwaukee.”

Southwest Airlines Forecast Modest Fourth Quarter Revenue Growth

Dallas-based carrier Southwest Airlines said during the investor day presentation last Monday that it expects for its current quarter to demonstrate modest growth in revenue.

According to the Chief Financial Officer of Southwest Airlines Tammy Romo, the passenger revenue per available seat miles will go up by 1% to 2% year on year.

Meanwhile, the airline intends to grow its number of seat miles for 2015 by 6% year on year and about half of its will be fixed to the airfield Dallas Love Field where flying have been partly restricted until October 2014 when its statute expired.

Also, Southwest Airlines plans to expand its revenue for 2015 together with its capacity according to the company’s chief financial officer.

Southwest Airlines Forecast Modest Fourth Quarter Revenue GrowthNot counting special items, the airline forecasts that its cost per available seat miles will go down by 1 to 2 percent in 2015 with the fuel prices expected to go between $2.60 and $2.70 per gallon.

On Monday, the shares of Southwest Airlines traded at $39 which is about 1.99% higher on the New York Stock Exchange.

In the company’s 44th year of service, Southwest Airlines currently operates around 3,600 flights everyday together with its subsidiary AirTran Airways. They are already serving almost 100 destinations across the U.S. and five countries to date.
