This event is organized to bring up talent and to design innovative solutions for global challenges the world is facing today.
Participants are asked to develop software, hardware, data visualization, mobile application.
Scientists, entrepreneurs, students, technologist, artist, developers, educators are all going to participate in the event.
Over 10,000 participants from 162 countries are taking part in the event.
There are four categories where the participants have to come up with innovative solutions, Earth, humans, space and robotics.
NASA and IBM are joining forces to conduct this event.
IBM is going to offer cloud services to participants in its Buemix platform, and other services include Supercomputer Watson, Internet of Things.
Participants are provided with 200 NASA data sources so that they can analyze the data to come up with an application which can later be used by NASA.
NASA wants to utilize the new and innovative ideas and IBM hopes developers will generate interest in its BLuemix cloud development tools.
This is fourth annual International Space App challenge which will begin on April10 to 12.
One example presented by NASA is 3-2-1 Liftoff: Launch that rocket! Where the participants are asked to develop an experience that captures all the variables involved with making launch decision.
