A day after technical glitch disrupted the operations at Starbucks, the company returned in business early Saturday.

The company was forced to shut its thousands of stores early the night before on Friday due to a computer outage.

According to Starbucks, the technical outage was caused due to “a failure during a daily system refresh”. However, the issue was resolved after several hours on Friday night.

Jim Olson, a spokesperson for the company, underlined that the outage was the firm’s internal issue and no kind of external breach was involved.

“We apologize to our customers for this inconvenience. All Starbucks stores in the US and Canada are expected to open for business as usual on Saturday,” the company had said in an issued statement on Friday night.

The company officials said that the technical problem has affected registers at 7,000 stores operated by the firm itself across the United States, while 1,000 company-operated stores were hit in Canada. The situation has prompted few stores to give away the drinks.

The company met with the technical problem on Friday evening which stated from the East Coast, where workers were seen posting hand-written “Cash Only” signs on the windows. The consumers were given free foods and drinks as the workers were unable to ring up their orders on registers.

Initially, the company planned to continue the working at the stores during the outage, but further changed their course by finally deciding to close stores early.

The glitch has not affected nearly 5,000 licensed stores in the United States or Canada’s nearly 300 licensed stores.
