Are Paris Flights Safe?

"Air France plane"

Travelers are afraid to travel to Paris.

Given the recent terrorist attacks in Paris, the question that is on everyone’s minds is: are Paris flights safe? Flight operators in the United States claim many travelers have cancelled their flights to Paris after the news, but companies will continue to operate flights in the region, nonetheless.

On Friday, November the 13th, a large group of terrorists wearing vests took control over certain regions of Paris by shooting and bombing famous places. Major attacks took place at Bataclan, Paris’ famous concert hall and the nearby restaurants. 129 persons were declared dead and 350 people were severely injured, according to reliable sources.

French President Francois Hollande has set an emergency state all over the country and the borders have been officially closed ever since the shooting began on November 13th. In spite of these measures airports will continue to function allowing people to leave and enter Paris.

Visitors, who were hoping to spend the following period in France, were forced to reconsider their plans. The majority of them have chosen to cancel flights because they consider the risk is too high. Consequently, many U.S. flight operators might suffer significant losses, especially since companies are giving them the possibility to cancel flights.

Whether they choose to cancel their tickets or they are willing to risk and travel to France, visitors should know that airport preparations will last longer than expected. Security measures are stricter now because airport employees conduct lengthier verifications.

Customers choose to cancel flights because they realize this is definitely not a good moment to be in France. Even if they arrive safely to their destination, they won’t be able to enjoy the time they spend in Paris or in any other place in France.

According to returning travelers, the situation is very bad in Paris and there is a general state of fear and mourning. It goes without saying that few visitors will be able to actually enjoy their stay in Paris, if they choose to travel at this particular time.

It is not just Western travelers that are cancelling their flights. Muslim travelers are afraid, too. They fear they could be misjudged for their nationality and attacked by French inhabitants.
