Nissan has recalled two times to fix the problem with the front-seat bag sensors but yet people are complaining about it and U.S safety regulators are investigating into the matter.
A number of 124 customers have complained about this problem according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. But Nissan tells that it has fixed the problem.
In 2013 and 2014 there were 990,000 vehicles recalled in the U.S. because the computer software could not detect an adult passenger in the seat and because of this the air bags were not inflating.
Car has sensors in the seat which can identify whether it is the child or an adult and if there is a child sitting then the airbags are turned off because they can harm the child.
And 60,000 vehicles in Canada and other countries were recalled for repair.
The models which have been called are Altima midsize car, Leaf electric car, Pathfinder SUV and Sentra compact models from the year 2013 and 2014, it also includes Infiniti QX60 and Q50 SUVs from 2014 and NV200 Taxi van and Infiniti JX35 SUV from 2013.
According to some of the customers after the repair has been done, the problem is not fixed as whenever an adult sits in the car the air bag status light stays on, indicating the air bag is turned off.
One of the customer complained that “I feel that this is a safety issue in spite of being told by the service department that the air bag will deploy even if it is off.”
The safety agency has said that it has opened a recall query to assess the effectiveness of the fix.
Nissan in a statement said that it the problem has been fixed.
