A new satisfaction study by Consumer Reports has found Publix as the second-best grocery chain in the United States, while the big fame Wal-Mart has been rated the worst by the shoppers.

The shopping chains were ranked in over a dozen categories, ranging from service to price offered to food quality.

The Florida-based Publix was given the highest-possible rating by the customers in five of the mentioned categories, including store-prepared food and bakery products. Publix’s only below-average rating was for the category of number of local products carried by it.

New Jersey-based Wegmans was the only store chain to score above expectations overall.

The bigwig Wal-Mart Supercenters ranked 68, tying for last with A&P and Waldbaum’s. Wal-Mart received the worst possible rating by the customers across six categories, including cleanliness and service. However, it scored above average for price.

Reacting over the survey results, Wal-Mart US CEO Greg Foran told investors, “We want this year to be the year of improving our stores.”

The Fresh Market held the No. 9 spot overall. It was one of only three shopping chains in the US that got the top score for produce and meat. Whole Foods clinched the No. 15 slot.
