Ubisoft Delays the Release of Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2

December 9, 2017 By Stephen Kenwright Leave a Comment

You’ll have to wait a little more if you want to play Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2

In case you were waiting for the release of the upcoming Ubisoft games, you’ll have to be patient and wait a little more, as two titles have already been delayed. Scheduled for the beginning of 2018, Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2 have been moved for March 2018, and for somewhere in the 2018 fiscal year, respectively.

Far Cry 5, delayed a month

Those who were waiting for Far Cry 5 are the happier ones, as the delay hasn’t been that big. From February 27th, the release moved to March 27th. Ubisoft wanted that everything that ended up in the game to perfectly fit their vision, so they needed some extra time to refine the game and make it memorable.

As its name says, Far Cry 5 is the fifth main title of the franchise, but the 11th reiteration of an open-world universe. Previous games presented exquisite locations, while the fifth one adopted a rural setting full of religious fanatics. The action takes place in a small village in Montana, with the main character being a sheriff who had to combat the preacher turned apocalypse cult leader.

The Crew 2, delayed for an unknown period of time

Players are never happy when their favorite games get delayed but, after all, it’s not a long wait. That month might really count for the overall gaming experience, so it will definitely be worth it. However, the things are a little shady with The Crew 2.

At first, it had to be released on March 16th. However, the 2018 fiscal year only starts on April 1st, so the release will definitely take place after that date, but no one can tell when. Therefore, it might take only one month, or as much as six months to get this game going. Also, one more game has been delayed from the 2018 fiscal year to the 2019 one. However, its title was unannounced, so it won’t be that hard a wait.

Sneaky Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator Hides a Special Game and Is Now Available for Free

December 5, 2017 By Stephen Kenwright Leave a Comment

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator is available on Steam for free

Great news for Five Nights at Freddy’s fans, as a new game in the franchise has just been released. Scott Cawthon, the developer, launched the game quite silently. This means he didn’t make a big announcement, and put it directly on Steam. The new title is called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator, and is available for free.

A Pizzeria Simulator game in the Five Nights at Freddy’s Franchise

The game is presented as no more than a pizzeria simulator. Cawthon wanted to create something fun and easy fit for the holidays, while preserving the Five Nights at Freddy’s vibe. The graphics are also simple, as the screenshots from Steam present it as an 8-bit low resolution game.

What you have to do is open your own pizza place and take care of it. The description of the game gets players ready for what they have to engage in, namely pizza preparation, taking care of the kids, and the quest for high scores. If this description for the Pizzeria Simulator managed to trick you, then you have to find out that the game is more than meets the eye.

The game is full of surprises

At first, the game will look like a true pizzeria simulator, where you manage a restaurant while playing other integrated minigames. However, this soon turns into something else, and becomes what fans have been looking for. The game is the new Five Nights at Freddy’s.

In June, Cawthon talked the possibility of a new Five Nights at Freddy’s game. Back then, he disappointed the fans by saying there was no sixth game in progress. For this, he blamed the huge pressure concentrating around the game, and the expectations that only get bigger.

Fans knew this must have been a prank, but he continued claiming he needed something lighter. To make everything convincing, he disguised the game into a Pizzeria Simulator, and released it for free. This is one of the greatest surprises of the year, and the troll around it only made it better.

Sony Releases a New Version of Aibo the Robo-Dog

November 3, 2017 By Stephen Kenwright Leave a Comment

Kid playing with an older version of Aibo

The new Aibo has an improved design and mechanics, making it look more like a real dog

Aibo, the lovable robotic dog, was first released by Sony in 1999, and gathered tons of fans who wanted to practice how it is to take care by a puppy. Now, they get the chance to try a new and more advanced pup, as the company announced the release of a new version of the robo-pet.

The new Aibo comes with a battery life of about two hours of intense playtime, as well as a quad-core CPU of 64 bits. Also, the design and the mechanics have been improved a lot. The new model is more flexible, as it can perform more moves on 22 independent axes.

In other words, its movements will look more like those performed by a real dog. So, if you want a little friend which synchronizes its mouth with the sounds it makes, moves its ears and tail like a real dog, but spares you the possible damage it might do to your home, Aibo is the perfect toy for you.

The new Aibo will feel just like a real dog

However, the good things don’t end here. Aibo will contain two cameras attached to it, one in its nose, and the other one somewhere close to its tail. By using advanced AI techniques, it will be able to recognize faces, facial expressions, and gestures. Also, several sensors will help it tell when the owner is petting it.

Aibo should also understand spoken words and commands and, soon enough, Sony wants to improve the display available in the robotic dog’s eyes. This way, the toy will behave a lot like a real dog, and users won’t even be able to tell the difference.

Since updates will make it function properly, Aibo will come equipped with a special SIM card which will allow it to connect to the internet anywhere. This means that you can take the dog out for a walk while it downloads all the necessary updates.

At the moment, Aibo will be available only in Japan at the beginning of next year. If Sony gets convinced the new robo-dog is successful enough, they will launch it in other parts of the world as well.

Pornhub Will Use AI to Improve Tagging and the Search System of Its Content

October 13, 2017 By Stephen Kenwright Leave a Comment

Person holding a tablet with the Pornhub website open on it

Pornhub will use AI to tag actors and positions in its videos

Pornhub, the popular platform of adult videos, has recently announced it would make use of AI technology to improve its tagging system. By using facial recognition, the mechanism aims to tag actors and improve its search tool. Also, the algorithm will recognize different positions or themes which appear in the videos, allowing users to easily find what they are interested in. However, this tool raises some privacy questions.

The new tagging system will offer a better content classification

Corey Price, the Vice President of Pornhub, says 50,000 have already been scanned and tagged according to the performers or traits they display. Now, the platform plans to continue analyzing videos, until they exceed 5 million. However, this method poses some problems in the porn industry, when it comes to privacy and making one’s identity public.

According to some reports, the AI will tag only those actors who have already agreed to be included in the Pornhub databases. Therefore, those who want their name to remain unknown cannot be tagged in the videos. However, there are still different opinions circulating among the adult performers.

Pornhub didn’t reveal who owns the AI software behind the tagging

Some of them want to be recognized, and wish as many people as possible would watch their videos. Therefore, tagging can help them get the exposure they desire. However, others are not big fans of the content usually displayed by Pornhub, as some videos might be degrading for women or for sexual and racial minorities.

Even so, Pornhub remains the most popular adult video platform, with 80 million daily viewers. This is why the owners felt it was time to improve the tagging service, and offer a better classification of the content on the website. However, they haven’t revealed who is the creator of the software, and who will own the tags and the information collected from the videos.

Bethesda Lets Skyrim Players Test their Skills in a New Survival Mode

September 30, 2017 By Stephen Kenwright Leave a Comment

Skyrim Dovahkiin screaming

The new Skyrim survival mode will push players to their limits

Bethesda has prepared a special surprise for Skyrim fans. The popular game will feature a special release, which will include a survival mode, where players will have to face tough conditions, such as shifting environments, extreme weather, or scarce food. They will be able to play the mode for free one week after the release. Once this ‘trial’ is over, it will become available as a premium item.

Why do players hate Creation Club?

This survival mode for Skyrim will resemble the one Bethesda delivered for Fallout 4. Moreover, it will also be provided via Creation Club. This club gathers all additional content for both Skyrim and Fallout 4, namely elements related to gameplay, skills, or items. In this sense, they resemble mods, but they are provided by the game creators themselves.

However, fans disagree with this Creation Club because it provides content they have to pay for. They blamed video game companies for banning fan-made mods and, instead, offering their own paid mods. Bethesda doesn’t think this strategy is bad, and finds this a clever way to offer players new content.

What is different in the new Skyrim survival mode?

Through this survival mode, Bethesda wanted to allow Skyrim players to see how tough they actually are, and to test their ability to survive in a cold land. Before they start, they can take a look at a detailed map where all areas with harsh weather are marked. The land has several safe zones as well, where players can look for shelter.

Players will have to face extreme hunger, which significantly decreases their stamina, so they need to search for food to survive. Also, they need to be careful to what they eat, as some foods might affect their health. Hunger comes with fatigue, which also affects the effectiveness of potions.

Fast travel is also disabled in survival mode, so players need to use horses or travel by foot. Therefore, they will have to roam around in harsh conditions, look for places to rest and restore their stamina, and be as clever as possible to reach the end of the quest.

Capcom Releases the Trailer for the Exciting Resi 7 DLC Not a Hero

September 23, 2017 By Stephen Kenwright Leave a Comment

Capcom released a trailer for the long awaited expansion Not A Hero

This December will be big for Resident Evil fans, as Capcom has scheduled the release of an expansion for the seventh game in the series. Their excitement is now reaching a whole new level, as the publisher has revealed a trailer for the DLC. Not A Hero will feature the beloved protagonist Chris Redfield, and is chronologically placed right after the events of Resident Evil 7.

Not A Hero Left Fans Waiting for Several Months

Fans are looking forward for the release of the DLC, as they have been waiting for it for quite a while. The initial launch date of Not A Hero was set for this past spring, but it got delayed for December 12th. Koshi Nakanishi, the director of the game, felt the need to explain himself. Resident Evil 7 was a hit game, so the developers needed to take their time and make sure they reach the same quality level on the DLC as well.

In fact, December 12th will be a great day. Not A Hero will be released for free, together with a different expansion, called End of Zoe, and the special Gold Edition which hasn’t been announced much long ago. Players are probably aware that Not A Hero will deal with the mysteries revolving around the Baker mansion.

Capcom celebrates Resident Evil 7’s success with many DLCs

In case you don’t know anything about the second expansion, Nakanishi made sure he made it clear for everybody. End of Zoe will also keep them in suspense as the story goes on and, in the end, reveals what happened with the daughter of Marguerite and Jack.

After receiving so many praises for Resident Evil 7, Capcom decided to launch plenty of DLCs for the game. Soon after the January release, two special packs made their way, namely Banned Footage Volume 1 and 2. Fortunately for those who didn’t manage to get them, they will be included in the Gold Edition.

Google Wants to Convert Phone Numbers and Addresses in an Email into Clickable Links

September 20, 2017 By Stephen Kenwright Leave a Comment

The Compose tab on Gmail

Google will soon convert addresses and phone numbers in mails into links

You most probably like your emails to be as practical as possible, and enjoy seeing links inserted directly into your messages, without having to copy and paste them to use them. Usually, you can click on them, and they immediately open in a separate tab. This is available for links but, if you received a phone number or an address, you had to copy it to reuse it. Google decided to change that, and make emails as user-friendly as possible.

Google wants to make Gmail more practical

If you use Gmail Inbox, you should soon be able to access any kind of information directly from your email. Therefore, if someone sends you a message containing a contact, address, or phone number, you will be able to make use of them directly. This means that they will be clickable.

For instance, you receive an email with an address. Google will make it clickable and, if you click on it, it will automatically open in a suitable app, such as Google Maps. This way, you can make sure you know what to head for. Also, if you open an email on your phone, and it contains a phone number, you will be able to call it directly from the message, without having to dial it first.

The changes should be rolled out these days

The same goes for email addresses. If you click on one, you are redirected to a new tab, where you can compose a message for that specific address, and send it from the email you are logged in with. This is incredibly practical, and saves users a lot of time.

Google wasn’t very specific to when these changes should be rolled out. However, they should come as quickly as possible and, in only a few days, they should already be here. Therefore, if you open your email someday during the next days, you should witness the changes.

Player Toxicity Prevents Overwatch Creators from Releasing More Updates

September 16, 2017 By Stephen Kenwright Leave a Comment

Screenshot with five Overwatch characters

Overwatch developers cannot create new features because of player toxicity

Player toxicity is a serious epidemic in online games, which significantly affects the overall game experience. Some gamers choose to play online games just to troll, while others really want to enjoy the matches. In such situations, the latter are affected by those who don’t take the game seriously. The same problem is quite prominent in Overwatch, which made Blizzard take serious measures, and impose some strict rules.

The Overwatch director addressed player toxicity in the latest developer update

Apart from affecting the gaming experience, it seems that player toxicity had other effects as well. Jeff Kaplan, the Overwatch game director, has recently released a developer update. In the video, he admitted this toxic behavior has affected the entire game development. Therefore, this is what prevents them from releasing game updates more often.

The entire video dealt with player toxicity, as the director wanted to comment on this behavior in person. He addressed all players who choose not to play fair, and blamed them not only for destroying the Overwatch community, but also for slowing down game development.

Instead of coming up with more maps, improved graphic features, or heroes, they have to spend a lot of time checking the members of the community in hope of finding those with a bad behavior. As an example, he said that, instead of doing console features, they had to create a better report system to help them find out who’s exhibiting player toxicity.

Many players have been penalized for bad behavior

However, there is a good side in all this. Thanks to this improved report system, they managed to get rid of many toxic players. So far, they penalized a number of 340,000 accounts. Also, they sent emails to about 20,000 players, thanking them for their report and informing them they had taken action against the toxic players in question.

This is a great attitude that Blizzard has adopted, but player toxicity will continue rampaging many online games, including Overwatch. If disciplinary actions do not work to convince trolls to abandon their behavior, maybe the delay on updates and new features should be persuasive enough.

WhatsApp Will Soon Let You Delete Messages Which Have Already Been Sent

September 15, 2017 By Stephen Kenwright Leave a Comment

Person chatting on WhatsApp

WhatsApp will soon allow you to delete messages which have already been sent

There are plenty of messaging platforms today, and most of them offer you more or less the same services. However, there is none which allows you to undo the sending of a message. WhatsApp thought about how useful it might be sometimes to delete a message after it had already been sent, so it’s currently testing a feature in the sense.

You will soon be able to delete unpleasant messages which have already been sent

Sometimes, you might regret sending certain messages, and wish the receiver weren’t able to reread them. Soon, WhatsApp will allow you to make such messages disappear, by rolling out a feature which lets you delete texts even after they have already been sent.

WABetaInfo is a Twitter account which offers news regarding the latest WhatsApp beta version, and it has already revealed how the “Delete for everyone” feature is currently under testing. Also, the servers appear to be ready, and able to delete messages which have been already sent. Unfortunately, the feature is not available to the public yet, but it should be rolled out soon.

The feature should soon still be here

The Twitter account has more interesting info regarding notifications. Once you receive a message, you will get a notification. However, if the sender chooses to delete it before you get to read it, the notification will display a text saying the message was deleted.

Therefore, if you are quick enough, you might be able to delete an embarrassing message even before the receiver gets to read it. However, there might be one downside. It’s possible that senders would be able to delete sent messages only five minutes after they are sent.

WhatsApp didn’t reveal anything regarding the date when the feature should be available for everyone. However, rumors related to its testing surfaced as early as January, and now it became available in beta. Therefore, it should be launched as soon as in a few weeks.

WhatsApp Wants to Monetize Its Service with a Business App Version

September 8, 2017 By Stephen Kenwright Leave a Comment

WhatsApp icon on an iPhone

WhatsApp is planning to make money with its new Business app version

Facebook has decided to find a way to monetize more of its apps, so the messaging service WhatsApp will promote several changes. This means the app will be now more suitable for businesses, and it will make communication between them and regular users easier. Apart from helping the users, this should also help the company to earn some money.

A Business app for WhatsApp is a sure way to monetize the service

WhatsApp will soon start rolling out its features for businesses. Now, they will be able to reach their customers easier. For instance, people will be able to place orders directly on the platform, without having to resort to other secondary means. Then, the businesses themselves can keep their clients up-to-date to the order progress.

WhatsApp built the Business app for smaller companies. However, the company is not planning to stop here. Its purpose is to find something which could work on a larger scale, and to be suitable for bigger businesses with more customers.

Communication between businesses and clients should get easier this way

At the moment, this version is available for free. However, as the number of businesses grows, Facebook announced it will start charging them for using the service. As WhatsApp is being used by more than 1 billion people every day, it’s important to help them get into contact with businesses for any kind of help they need.

Maybe some of them already use the platform to communicate with some local firms, but WhatsApp wants to bring it to the next level. The Business app should become the easiest way for people to receive order or flight confirmations, or any other useful information regarding the services offered by the businesses.

To identify the account of a business, look for a badge with a green tick. This means the account is verified. Also, you won’t have to worry about receiving spam messages from these companies. You can always block a conversation from the Main Menu.
