Food and Drug Administration or FDA has approved to go for the vaccine for the Type 1 diabetes.
The study is funded by Diabetes UK and support from Tesco and co-funding from JDRF.
The research is expensive and pegged at 4.4 million pounds and this investment is meant to come up with a vaccine for type 1 diabetes.
The research could produce the first working vaccine in the coming 10 years. From preventing patients at high risk to delay the onset of type 1 diabetes, it will prove to the first line of defense against patients prone to patients at risk of developing diabetes.
The trail for prototype vaccine is a reality and would prove to be a significant step forward in the world of diabetes cure.
Colin Dayan, professor at Cardiff University will come up with a UK wide network to enable cure for type 1 diabetes immune therapy. The trails will be taken place in the UK hospitals.
Diabetes UK’s Director of Research, Dr. Alasdair Rankin said, “This research has been made possible thanks to funding from Tesco and additional support from JDRF; it is exciting as it has the potential to transform the lives of thousands of people suffering from Type 1 diabetes and will lead to proper cure. This will bring about much-needed relief from regular dialysis and painful insulin injections.”

The funding has led to a massive research and collaboration among scientists across the world and the Tesco customers have raised a huge amount for the diabetes research study.
A child affected by type 1 diabetes has to endure 19,000 injections and 50,000 pin pricks by the time they are 18. With this vaccine, the disease will be consigned to the dustbins of history.
