The Newton County authorities are on the lookout for an armed robber who assaulted a homeowner on Tuesday shortly after midnight. The victim, a former DeKalb County Police officer, and DA investigator managed to put the robber on the run by firing his weapon.
DeKalb County Police Officer Declared that He Was Ambushed
On midnight Tuesday, Carlos Wicker, a retired DeKalb County police officer was returning home when he was ambushed in his driveway by an individual brandishing a gun.
According to Wicker, the robber was pointing the gun at him and demanded that he relinquish his wallet and other valuables. Little did he know that the homeowner he was holding at gunpoint was a seasoned law enforcement agent, with a career that spans almost two decades, having more than enough experience to tackle an armed suspect.
Wicker told his younger colleagues that the suspect must have been hiding in the bush, waiting for him to return home.
As the suspected threatened to shoot him, Wicker quickly pulled out his concealed gun and fired a single shot at the suspect. Wicker declared that the individual bolted off and boarded a vehicle, probably driven by one of his accomplices.
While the former DeKalb County police officer declared that he had no issue putting the robber on the run, this incident put the entire Riverwalk Farms community on edge, as most of its residents left the city to get away from criminals.
Wicker also confirmed that nothing out of the ordinary happens in the Riverwalk Farms community.
Although the residents fear for their lives, the authorities declared that they’re working the case as fast as possible in order to identify and arrest the individual who attempted to rob Carlos Wicker.
As always, the residents of this community are asked to contact the authorities right away if they have any information regarding the suspect or his getaway vehicle.
